(Chancenkarte) Germany

The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees has introduced the new (Chancenkarte) Opportunity Card (effective from 01-06-2024) that allows non-EU citizens to enter Germany for job-seeking.

Prior to this, citizens of non-EU countries were required to show a valid employment contract to move to Germany. There were also routes available for experienced skilled workers.

However, the “Chancenkarte” is introduced to attract foreign-qualified talent to engage in Germany’s job market to combat recent labour and workforce shortages, without any pre-arrival conditions or work permit requirement.

Key advantages of the Opportunity Card:

  • No financial requirements
  • A quick and convenient way to enter Germany
  • Scope for Permanent Residency
  • Convenience in employment
  • Income support through part-time work

To be eligible you must:

  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • 2 years of professional experience
  • English language proficiency at B2
  • Sufficient financial resources for the first month of your stay

Upon a successful application, the applicant will recieved a guaranteed 12-month visa to enter Germany and conduct their job search.
